Great insights! At the Vault preparing for the Mad Scientists Club with Tom. We discussed the Future of Retail tonight. Put "Future of Retail" into Google and guess what popped up as #3?

Got me to thinking. Took my iPhone GS with Red Laser app. I captured the bar code on one of Tom's books. Could buy it for 75 cents at an online bookstore! Cheap book... :)

I'm enjoying the debate on this topic, and how sparring by brilliant people can still lead to disagreement. But even at a Mensa convention someone will still be considered the dumbest person in the room. :)

While we have no evidence of the 2012 apocalypse, at least nothing scientific indicating it will happen, there are many other events that could pose a threat to us and the rest of the planet - even before the year 2012. The chances of a catastrophe such as an asteroid strike hitting the earth, some sort super-bug flu pandemic, terrorism involving nuclear or chemical weapons, all of these possibilites pose threats every day. There is little if anything that can be certain in this life, but it helps to be prepared.

Tom, I agree it is going to be a sensor filled world that we will be living in soon, most of what you have proposed here seems completely likely. Actually there is a lot of opportunity in the development of these technologies and perhaps, just as much resistence in the onset. Groups like the Electronic Frontier Foundation and such will be kicked dragging and screaming, but consumers will adopt if they see benefits to it; trading privacy for convenience for instance. Great article, thanks, Lance

I recently ran into a PR/marketing consultant who has the same attitude he had two years ago. The last few years he has said "advertising is dead" and "how do you get buyers attention anymore", "track it?".
The next generation of information is killing people who are not paying attention.

You described the next evolution of hyperlinks and most people need to get up to speed with the current distribution. Movin' fast baby! Thanks for the experience.
