Many aspects of machine learning and probabalistic reasoning are really beginning to "hit their stride" in a commercial context: speech recognition, image/object recognition, natural language processing, etc. An exciting trend is the emergence of new "AI-as-a-service" infrastructure services, living entirely in the cloud. These are forming "intelligence plumbing" for a wide variety of online / mobile apps: OCR, Language Translation, Image Search, etc. Great post.
