I agree. That's why we built the www.fundingroadmap.com the first multiple choice business plan and due diligence reporting system built in the clouds. Bootstrapped entrepreneurs need all the help they can get. They need to be able to easily plan, organize, collaborate, benchmark, post and pitch to investors. They need a level playing field for access to capital. With 17 million people unemployed, they need to stop waiting for big business to save them, and start a new business and save themselves.

Great article!

This article is so perfect and true. we are creating a new educational institute to create these solo entrepreneurs at little cost and make it available online to all even to those who have no ideas. Empowering people is what we need to do and give them control of their lifestyles. thanks for the great article!

Great to hear about what you're doing to teach the solopreneurs at Metro State. I'd like to talk with you further about the kind of results you're getting.

I immediately thought of the lady who attended the bootcamp I ran for the Davinci Institute - she called herself an accidental entrepreneur. Remember that? Classic!

I see a lot of this trend within my business. Traditional job seekers who finally create or purchase the business they always said they would and now have no choice. One of those events where they look back and thank God they got laid off. I am also seeing more people leave comfortable jobs they hate (attorneys do this a lot) to start a yoga studio or something.

As far as opportunities: Right here in Denver the Center For Innovation (www.metrostateinnovate.org) is teaching solopreneurs how to build business and community. We had two students sharing their business plan on Your Brand Radio last week.
(12/17/09)

What I love to see is the individual business learn how to productize themselves to get off of the rollercoaster of business development and fulfillment. That is next for these brave people.
